Dubash writes English captions for videos spoken in any of 99 languages. It does this on your own device. This page says what the app sends over the internet, which is very little, and what we keep.
The video you choose, the sound Dubash reads from it and the captions it writes never leave your phone or your browser. Nothing about the video, not even its name or length, is sent to us or to anyone else. On Android the app reads only the video you pick or share to it; it does not browse your photos or files.
The first time you use each quality level, Dubash downloads a speech model (190 MB for Fast, 539 MB for Best). On Android the files come from Hugging Face, where the whisper.cpp project publishes them. In a browser they come from Hugging Face as well. Like any download, the server sees your IP address. We do not see it, and Dubash sends nothing else with the request. The model is kept on your device so it is only downloaded once.
In the browser, the app also loads its own code and libraries from the dubash.app site and from a content delivery network the first time the page opens.
If you send us a message from the feedback form, or give the Android app a star rating, that is sent to us. A row is stored with:
These rows are stored with Supabase, a hosting provider, in its Mumbai region, and are sent over an encrypted connection. We use them only to read your feedback and reply to you. They are not shared with anyone else and are not used for advertising. We keep them for up to two years and then delete them. If you want a message or rating deleted sooner, email us at the address below and say roughly when you sent it.
The only data Dubash holds about anyone is the feedback and rating rows described above. To have yours deleted, email customersupport@chukkani.com and say roughly when you sent the message or rating, and the email address you gave if you gave one. We delete the whole row, including any email address and message in it, within 30 days and reply to confirm. Rows we are not asked to delete are deleted after two years anyway.
Dubash is not aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from them.
If this policy changes, the new version is published at this address with a new date at the top.
